David R. White, M.D., joined the Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery and MUSC Children’s Hospital in August, 2005, after completing the world’s premiere fellowship in Pediatric Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center under the direction of Robin T. Cotton, M.D., an internationally renowned expert in pediatric otolaryngology and airway reconstruction. Dr. White is a native of Charleston, S.C., and graduated from Davidson College in 1994. He then received a medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina and completed a residency in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at the University of North Carolina. He received board certification from the American Board of Otolaryngology in 2004, and is a fellow in the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. Dr. White’s practice focuses entirely on the care of children with ear, nose and throat problems. While he see patients for all pediatric otolaryngology/head and neck conditions, Dr. White has particular expertise in the treatment of children with airway problems including laryngomalacia, subglottic stenosis, tracheal stenosis, laryngeal clefts and laryngeal webs. He also has expertise in pediatric speech and swallowing disorders, neck masses, and ear and hearing problems. Dr. White has published more than 25 chapters and articles in medical textbooks and journals and has won several research awards at national otolaryngology meetings.
