Paul R. Lambert, M.D., is professor and chair of the Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at The Medical University of South Carolina. He also directs the Division of Otology-Neurotology. Dr. Lambert’s undergraduate and medical school training were at Duke University. He completed an otolaryngology-head and neck surgery residency at UCLA. He also completed an otology and neurotology fellowship at the House Ear Institute in Los Angeles, considered by many to be the world's premiere training center for this subspecialty. Dr. Lambert was on faculty at the University of Virginia Medical Center for 17 years, directing the Division of Otology-Neurotology and serving as Vice-Chairman of the Department. In 1999, he left Virginia to assume his current position at MUSC. In addition to his administrative duties, Dr. Lambert conducts a busy clinical and surgical practice, treating children and adults with ear problems. Dr. Lambert has dedicated his practice to hearing and balance disorders for over 25 years and has performed thousands of ear surgeries, including more than 300 cochlear implants. Dr. Lambert has published over 100 articles dealing with ear disease, hearing loss and dizziness. He also has co-authored several textbooks in this field. Dr. Lambert frequently teaches surgical techniques at national conferences and at other universities in the United States and abroad. For years, Dr. Lambert has been listed in Best Doctors in America” and in "America’s Top Doctors." In 2004, Dr. Lambert served as president of the American Neurotology Society, which is the national organization of doctors who limit their practice to the ear and skull base
