Stroke & Cerebrovascular Care : Referring Physicians

The MUSC Comprehensive Stroke and Cerebrovascular Center is driven by a collaborative team of board-certified and fellowship-trained specialists offering these patient services in one location:

Other centers may promote “comprehensive” care, but they’re not like this one — virtually every subspecialty in cerebrovascular care, plus a non-competitive team approach centered on cooperation. The only agenda is your patient’s well being.

Patients generally are first seen at our cerebrovascular clinic, which is staffed by neuro-specialists in radiology, surgery, medicine, nursing and other disciplines. This streamlines the diagnosis and helps ensure we recommend the most effective treatment.

Complex cases are presented at weekly team meetings to which referring physicians are invited to participate via telephone or televideo. Specialists review findings together, ask questions, offer insights and work toward an appropriate recommendation. Everything happens under one roof, with no wasted time.

We treat patients as if they were respected family members — keeping them informed, building understanding and lowering anxiety. We also value strong relationships with referring physicians, involving them in decision making throughout the care of their patients.

MUSC is committed to creating a world-class neurosciences center integrating advanced clinical care, cutting-edge research and educational excellence. Please take advantage of this effort by consulting with our staff, participating in events and offering insight into ways we can improve the quality of preventive outreach, early intervention, clinical care, follow-up, research, and public/professional education. Only by working together can we raise the status of neurological health in our state, region and nation.
