The Center for Drug and Alcohol Programs provides the latest in effective treatment for drug, alcohol and substance addiction, while working to advance current knowledge about the treatment of substance abuse through basic and clinical research. It also serves as a state-of-the-art training center for future addictions scientists and clinicians. The Center for Drug and Alcohol Programs, known as CDAP, is one of the nation’s premier academic centers for the study and treatment of alcohol and substance abuse. U.S. News and World Report recognized CDAP as being the 9th best drug and alcohol abuse academic program in the United States.1 The Center is based in the Institute of Psychiatry (IOP) at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC). CDAP is multifaceted and includes alcohol and drug addiction research, alcohol and drug abuse treatment, substance abuse training, and community outreach and substance abuse education components.
The Center for Drug and Alcohol Programs is directed by Dr. Raymond F. Anton and staffed by highly trained substance addiction professionals, including nationally and internationally known drug and alcohol abuse researchers and clinicians. CDAP occupies 33,000 square feet of dedicated space for substance abuse research, education and clinical treatment in the Institute of Psychiatry. The Center administers a comprehensive and integrated clinical and basic laboratory research program.
