So many things to do!
Charleston has been a major patron of theater, visual arts, music and dance since the 1600's.  Today, both visitors and residents of Charleston enjoy a wide variety of artistic entertainment, including the Charleston Symphony Orchestra, the Charleston Ballet Theatre, the Gibbes Museum of Arts and 15 theatrical companies around town.  Then, of course, there are the numerous cultural and arts festivals held in Charleston throughout the year.  Among these are Spoleto Festival USA, the Southeastern Wildlife Exposition, etc.

There are numerous shopping and sight-seeing opportunities in Charleston.  Take a horse-drawn carriage tour of downtown...see the Old Exchange and Provost Dungeon, the churches that inspired the Charleston nickname "Holy City," the Battery and, of course, the beautiful homes and gardens that are part of Charleston's rich heritage.  For shopping fanatics, King and Market Streets are lined with quaint boutiques and interesting specialty shops, peppered with contemporary favorites such as Saks Fifth Avenue, Banana Republic, Godiva and Gucci.  And don't forget to stop at the City Market to find handmade sweetgrass baskets and other crafts.

Then, of course, there's golf.  According to GOLF Magazine, Charleston is home to two of the "100 Greatest Golf Courses in the World."  The Ocean Course at Kiawah Island, for instance, is the host course for the Ryder Cup matches and has been named "America's Toughest Resort Course" by GOLF DIGEST.  Because Charleston golf courses have not yet been discovered by the masses, players can enjoy more accessible tee times and a less hurried pace in a beautiful, relaxed atmosphere.
