Dr. David Soper joined MUSC Women's Health at Cannon in 1995 as an Obstetrician Gynecologist. Dr. Soper graduated undergrad from Florida State University and completed medical school at University of Miami, Florida. After medical school, Dr. Soper completed an Obstetrics Gynecology residency at the Naval Regional Medical Center in San Diego, California and a fellowship in Reproductive Infectious Diseases at the Naval Hospital. His special interests include infectious diseases, vulvodynia, chronic and recurrent vaginitis, operative hysteroscopy and laparoscopy, alternatives to hysterectomy and obstetrics. |
James Carter, M.D.Dr. James Carter joined MUSC Women's Health at Cannon in 1992 as an Obstetrician Gynecologist. Dr. Carter graduated undergrad from University of South Carolina and completed medical school at MUSC. After medical school, Dr. Carter completed an internship at the University of South Carolina and residency at the Naval Regional Medical Center in San Diego, California. His special interests include advanced laparoscopic surgery, laparoscopically assisted hysterectomy, chronic pelvic pain and advanced hysteroscopy. |
Dr. Angela Dempsey joined MUSC Women's Health at Cannon in 2008 as an Obstetrician Gynecologist. Dr. Dempsey graduated undergrad from University of Alabama - Tuscaloosa and completed medical school at MUSC. After medical school, Dr. Dempsey completed her residency at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center and fellowship in Family Planning at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. Her special interests include family planning and contraception, management of miscarriage and methods of uterine evacuation. |
Donald Fylstra, M.D.Dr. Donald Fylstra joined MUSC Women's Health at Cannon in 1991 as an Obstetrician Gynecologist. Dr. Fylstra graduated undergrad from Purdue University and completed medical school at Vanderbilt University. After medical school, Dr. Fylstra completed his residency at West Virginia University Medical Center. His special interests include advanced laparoscopic surgery, obstetrics, vaginal surgery, ectopic pregnancy and hormone replacement. |
Gweneth Lazenby, MDDr. Gweneth Lazenby joined MUSC Women's Health at Cannon in 2009 as an Obstetrician Gynecologist. Dr. Lazenby graduated undergrad from University of South Carolina Honors College and medical school at MUSC. After medical school, Dr. Lazenby completed her residency at University of Hawaii in Honolulu and a fellowship in Reproductive Infectious Diseases at MUSC. Her special interests include reproductive infectious diseases, HIV, sexually transmitted infections, vaginitis, minimally invasive gynecological surgery and sexual dysfunction. |

Ashlyn Savage, M.D.Dr. Ashlyn Savage joined MUSC Women's Health at Cannon in 2006 as an Obstetrician Gynecologist. She graduated undergrad from Tulane University and completed medical school at MUSC. After medical school, Dr. Savage completed her residency at Magee-Women's Hospital at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Her special interests include adolescent gynecology, minimally invasive surgery, family planning and contraception. |
Steven Swift, M.D.Dr. Steven Swift joined MUSC Women's Health at Cannon in 1993 as an Urogynecologist. He graduated undergrad from Miami University in Ohio and completed medical school at Ohio State University College of Medicine. After medical school, Dr. Swift completed his residency at MUSC and a fellowship in Urogynecology at the University of California at Irvine. His special interests include urinary incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse and urinary and rectal fistulas. |
Margaret Villers, M.D.Dr. Margaret Villers joined MUSC Women's Health at Cannon in 2007 as an Obstetrician Gynecologist. She graduated undergrad from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland and completed medical school at Georgetown University School of Medicine. After medical school, Dr. Villers completed an internship at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and a residency at Duke University Medical Center. Her special interests include abnormal uterine bleeding, infectious disease and laparoscopy. |
