High-risk Breast Program

MUSC Hollings Cancer CenterMUSC is committed to providing advanced cancer care, leading the way in prevention, education, treatment and research. The MUSC High Risk Breast Program offers a multidisciplinary clinic at Hollings Cancer Center for the evaluation of patients and families at increased risk for the development of breast cancer.  The mission of this clinic is to provide:

  • optimal patient care through a multidisciplinary approach
  • evaluation of personal and hereditary risk factors for developing breast cancer
  • quantitative breast cancer and genetic risk assessment
  • consultation on the pros and cons of genetic testing
  • coordination of genetic testing & interpretation of test results
  • individualize options for earlier cancer detection & cancer risk reduction
  • lifestyle modification
  • enhanced clinical screening
  • MRI screening
  • chemoprevention (medicines that may help high-risk candidates stay cancer free)
  • prophylactic surgery (breast removal as a preventative measure)
  • community and patient education
  • clinical trial research
