Diagnostic and Treatment Building
The hospital will deliver high quality health care via a unique experience that is patient-centered and service-oriented. This will be accomplished through a concept called “healing hospitality,” which begins with the creation of a physical environment that is comforting, hospitable and non-institutional. The diagnostic and treatment building is a four-story L-shaped form that will hold all major technology spaces including surgery, radiology, interventional cardiology and associated preparatory and recovery areas. Procedural spaces often feel stark and cold due to the nature of medical technology and lighting. The new facilities will include specific amenities and characteristics to decrease patient stress and promote dignity and trust. The color palette features Charleston’s historic paint collection, with soft creamy tones as a backdrop to warm accents of terra cotta, slate blue and sage green. Honey-toned woods introduced in the conservatory will be recalled in the diagnostic and treatment building in doors, cabinetry, furniture and ceilings at key destination points. |
