| First Phase in 20-Year Expansion Plan
| Vision | MUSC Ashley River Tower was envisioned for several reasons, first and foremost to accommodate the needs of an aging and growing population in South Carolina. Capacity has been an issue for the last decade with the hospital often unable to meet the increasing demands of referring hospitals and physicians throughout the state.
| |
| As a result, MUSC began planning for a new facility to strengthen its ability to care for residents throughout South Carolina and the Southeast. Opening January 2008, the new facility is designed around the patient, delivering the highest quality care in a comforting environment. Focused on two primary services, the Ashley River Tower addresses the increased prevalence of cardiovascular and digestive diseases in the region. Patients have access to all inpatient and outpatient clinical services in one convenient location. Ashley River Tower features three distinct yet interconnected spaces: Diagnostic and Treatment Building – A four-story building includes all major technology spaces for surgery, radiology, interventional cardiology, preparation and recovery.
Patient Tower – A seven-story patient hospitality tower is fully dedicated to recovery and healing.
Conservatory – A central space connects both sides of the facility, providing comfortable gathering places for patients, families and employees.
