Thoraco-abdominal Aortic Replacement

Rarely, patients may have a thoraco-abdominal aortic aneurysm, which occurs in the section of the aorta that passes through the chest and abdomen. Surgery is performed to prevent rupture of the aneurysm  and involves the removal of a section of the aorta and replacing it with an artificial tube (graft).
